Measure Your Way to Wig Perfection: Step-by-Step Guide for Wig Measurements

Wearing a wig can be a fantastic way to change your look, boost your confidence, or simply experiment with different hairstyles. To ensure your wig fits comfortably and looks natural, it's crucial to take accurate measurements of your head. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get those measurements right:

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies Before you start, you'll need a few items:

  • A soft measuring tape

  • A mirror

  • A friend or family member (optional but can be helpful)

Step 2: Prepare Your Hair. If you have long hair, it's best to secure it in a low ponytail or wrap it tightly against your head using a wig cap. This step ensures that your hair won't interfere with the measurements.

Step 3: Measure Your Circumference. Stand in front of a mirror and wrap the measuring tape around your head, starting at the center of your forehead, right at your harline. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight. Hold it in place at the back of your head and take note of the measurement.

Step 4: Measure the Front to Nape Length .Place the tape at the center of your hairline, right in the middle of your forehead, and extend it over the crown of your head to the nape of your neck (neck hairline). This measurement is crucial for the overall fit of your wig.

Step 5: Measure Ear to Ear. Position the tape just above one ear and run it across the forehead, stopping just above the opposite ear. Make sure the tape is level with the floor.

Step 6: Measure Temple to Temple. Position the tape at the edge of your hairline on one side of your head (around your temple) and run it across the occipital bone to the other side. This measurement helps ensure that the wig's front hairline aligns with your natural hairline.

Step 7: Measure the Nape of Your Neck. Place the tape at the base of your hairline on your neck and measure horizontally from one side to the other. This measurement ensures that the wig covers the back of your head properly.

Step 8: Record Your Measurements. Write down all the measurements you've taken. It's a good idea to double-check them to ensure accuracy.

Step 9: Choose Your Wig Size. We provide size charts that correlate with your measurements. Compare your measurements to these charts to determine your wig size. If your measurements fall between sizes, its often safe to opt for the larger cap size for a more comfortable fit that can be adjusted if needed. In other cases, you will opt for the cap size that has the most measurements correlating with yours. Example, your temple to temple and circumference fall in the medium category, but your front to nape is small you would choose a medium cap.

Step 10: Seek Professional Assistance (Optional). If you're uncertain about taking your measurements or are looking for a custom-fit wig, consider consulting a professional wig fitter or booking a consultation with us. An expert can provide guidance and even create a custom wig based on your measurements and preferences.

Taking accurate wig measurements is a crucial first step to ensure your wig fits comfortably and looks natural. With these steps, you'll be well on your way to finding the perfect wig for your style and comfort.
