Tips for Washing Your Wig
You are here because you are a proud wig owner looking to protect your investment. Proper maintenance is key to ensuring your wig looks great and lasts a long time. One essential part of wig care is washing it.
Here are some tips on how to wash your wigs:
Choose the right shampoo: Use a shampoo that is sulfate-free and moisture rich. We like jusing Tresemme, budget friendly and gets the job done.
Detangle before washing: Comb your wig carefully to remove any tangles or knots before washing. This will help prevent damage to the hair during washing.
Fill a basin (sink) with lukewarm water: Add a small amount of shampoo to the water and mix until suds form.
Wash the wig: Place the wig in the sink and gently swish it around. Do not rub or twist the hair as this can cause tangling, make sure to wash in a downward motion. Rinse the wig thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Condition the wig: Apply a small amount of wig conditioner to the wig and distribute it evenly with your fingers. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Dry the wig: Gently pat the wig with a towel to remove excess water or give a very gentle squees (don’t wring). Hang the wig on a wig stand or lay it flat on a towel to air dry. If using a hair dryer, use a small pinch of heat protective serum.
